happy friday the 13th

eek. perfect time to watch scary movies.

i don't actually believe in the badness of this day. i do believe in the badness of this series of movies. because i grew up by a lake, and there were summer homes there, it especially creeped me out. i know it's totally fake, and it's laughable how bad it is, but once it gets dark, and you start looking into the deep lake, it gets a little more possible. people HAVE drowned in kawkawa lake. which is one of the reasons i can't swim alone. and if i go swimming there, someone has to go in before me.

welcome to my traumatised world. it's a scary place.

also, a few summers ago, erin and i would go swimming almost every day. the one day we didn't go swimming (we'd swim across lake of the woods, to this log) there was a group of ESL students or something that had stopped there to go swimming. one guy went out far, and i guess he wasn't a very good swimmer, because he drowned that day. it totally freaked me out. i had dreams that i was there that day, with my scuba fins and mask, and snorkel, and that i saved him. no one understood that he was calling for help. they thought he was playing.

heebie jeebies.
