the story i forgot
last week... oh, actually going on two weeks ago now, i picked up yvonne, and we were headed to get anghold to go bra shopping. we were turning left off commercial to her street when there was this guy crossing. and totally taking his time. like really really taking his time.
anyway, of course, i was running late, and his actions were pissing me off... i clearly have not been able to reach the point of realisation where i can truly accept that it is not other people's actions, but your own reactions that will prevent you from reaching nirvana and act accordingly, because i was in my car, and i made a somewhat growling noise/ughing noise of frustration followed with a yell of: guy!!! he totally looked at us, and i swear went slower, despite my: oh sure, go ahead smile. so, we picked up ang, and as i was turning onto commercial there he was again! and he recognised us! i believe i said/yelled: not this guy again! anyway, it was soooooo f'ing funny. yvonne and i were in stitches. i felt like i'd done some major crunches.

yoshi wins again!
i was supposed to work tonight, but things got changed around (thank you jeebus, cause i'm getting sick). so tonight, d and i went for dinner and then played mario party. oh and the crowning moment? watching the edge of reason... where we mooned over mark darcy and loved/hated daniel cleaver.
things got so messed at work, i didn't end up getting a break, so by the time danielle got to the store i was starving. oh how i love soy burgers.
anyway, early night for me i guess, nyquil and bed. oh sweet bed. also, i would like a massage, and am willing to barter for this service.

search words: furla bag shopping
someone came to my blog because of these words! whoever you are, let's go shopping!!!
i'm tired today. and i'm getting sick. i couldn't fall asleep last night. i should have gone to bed at 8, like i was going to, but i thought i should stick it out until a decent time, so i would get up normally. ugh.
i think i want a job where it doesn't matter if i come in or not. well, maybe that would make me feel useless, but at least i would have sick days. or mental health days.
today is work and then the gem show in abbotsford.

presently speaking
tomorrow there are a bunch of businesses that are donating 10% of their sales to loving spoonful. so, come to my store and buy something from me. :o)
speaking of presents, today ang and i got dalia's birthday present. yay! and we had mexican. dalia's present rocks. i won't give spoilers... but i will say it's hot!
oh, in the mail i got a coupon for a free satay at glowbal. that's exciting. it was with a thank you card from our server.
i also ended my pedicure from yvonne's birthday. the cute blue paint is gone. i will look for pink next.
yesterday i bought season six, part 2 of sex and the city. this means there's going to have to be a bit of a marathon soon. well. maybe i'll wait until after i sell my place... or it can be a housewarming thing. and that would be good times. oh mr.big, it's been too long.
okay, bed.

home for some work
phew. it's been a long day!
now i'm home i can turn on the tv... oh shit, i forgot my new DVD in the car. grr. anyway, turn on the tv and price jewelry. eeek.
saw two houses today. one was nice, the other wasn't. the one that was good went up $4K. so, probably next week or the week after, i'm going to sell my house, and hopefully find somewhere to live before the completion date.
i will miss kits. probably mostly the shopping. and the trendy fun places to eat and drink. maybe i can just buy a huge tv and have it display video of w4th. ha ha. that would be wicked. besides, i'll probably still work here for a while.

quickie
yay! i just got an email from rachel. she's in korea teaching english.
today is a work and then go to hope day. ugh. i just want to sleep in. i had trouble sleeping last night. but tonight, whatever time i'm tired, after i see some houses, i will go to bed.
i'm sure something more exciting will happen later... if not, i will finally blog about the pizza guy on commercial drive from last week.

zombie jesus day and lavalife
today was making dinner day. it turned out alright. yvonne kept me company and we decided that i should make a lavalife profile. so we did. i don't know that i'm going to keep it up any longer. but i guess we'll see. it was already boring me after 3 minutes.
thanks to jc and kimla who came over and brought flowers and treats. and i.q.2000, of course! thanks to yvonne for her help, both in the kitchen and on the computer.
oh, and p.s. my tummy did get cured!

self-healing
so, i'm convinced i have something going wrong in my tummy/intestines. i hopefully have fixed it by taking metamusil last night. the first time i took it was in university. my prof told me about it because her sister was a rules girl and in that community girls were taking it for clearer skin. which kind of relates to why i took it. we were hoping it would clear up my eczema.
anyway, i like to keep it around, even if it seems like it's for old people. it's cleansing.
p.s. Dr.iJeffy: it's not 'rhoids, i looked.
on that note, i'm going to tidy up and get things rolling for dinner.

threesies
as much as i believe that bad things happen in threes, i also think that so do good things. for example, i am hoping that i can have three amazing dinners in a row.
last night yvonne and i were going to go for something light and vegetable based, oh and cheap... at least that's how i think it started out. then we ended up at glowbal downtown. oh god. so good. we had to have champagne despite my upset stomach for the past four days. i enjoy going to restaurants where you don't have to ask for more water, or as in our case, we didn't have to fill up our own glasses with the bottle of still water. then again, if you're paying for water at a restaurant, you shouldn't have to fill it up yourself, bottle on the table or not. yvonne had ahi tuna, i had risotto. started with salad, finished with triple creme brulee.
tonight, i went to the stewart house for dinner. (rach, you may want to skip this part). as usual, totally delicious. i'm soooo full. it was a slightly smaller crowd than usual, so i got more leftovers to take home! i'm going to copy angela's yams for tomorrow. people should experience them. it'll be great with the tofurkey. stuffing, parsnips, salad, turkey, lamb, taters, i'm sure i'm missing stuff, in any case, there was no shortage of selection. yum.
tomorrow is dinner here. i will make apple pie-cake, mashed taters, amazing yams (i hope), tofurkey, salad, and lots of stuffin'. yahoo. so, here's hoping great dinners can also happen in threes. otherwise i'm scared for tomorrow!
i played mario party with yvonne yesterday. yoshi, the green machine, tied with mario, the latin lover. today princess daisy (controlled by danielle) came out on top. but at least peaches was crushed in both games!!! danielle made a good point today... she said that she thinks peaches is programmed to be a bitch on my game because she's not as bad on her nintendo. perhaps one day i will play mario at danielle's. i will, of course, report back.

i'm da weiner!
last night was janet's cosmic bowling going-away-to-japan party. it was fun. not quite as cosmic as other places. but you could drink at this one. i was driving, so i didn't. but others did, and i can certainly appreciate the appeal of bowling and drinking.
f those balls are heavy. totally brutal. many of us will have sore hands, finger, or/wrists today. this blog will be short.
i got 98. which involved one strike. a very exciting moment.
then yvonne and i went to visit anghold, who is now back in the coq. everyone is sad that she's back. east van was way more fun. but i guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.
off to work.

it's over
d & yvonne... i told you this was coming... like a month ago! now it's over. just as a head's up. don't worry, i'll be fine. i'm sure. it's just another bump. and besides, i've learned loads of lessons. maybe i'll list them sometime. clearly one is go with gut.
to everyone else: i'm going to try to come home early from work today. i don't feel like being there. besides, there are yams to buy and a menu to plan. if you're looking to hang out, drink some wine, play some mario... i just might be your girl.

comments
i check my comments all the time. but i'm just seeing new ones. i went back to read old comments, and found tonnes. sorry, i'm a terrible person. but i promise to get better.

taxi driver
so, i ended up having a bit of a free day today. i've been working hard (despite the number of blogs yesterday) to score myself a mostly no work day. i finally got dressed and decided to get the bloodwork and x-rays ordered by the skin specialist. oh and p.s. the x-ray technician kinda gave me a weird look when i told him what it was for. he was like, uh, no injury?
anyway, i also had a couple of prescriptions to fill, so i walked over to LD and got them (and a bunch of exciting cleaning products) and decided to cab it home. i didn't drive there, because sometimes after giving blood i want to pass out, and it was approaching 3, which equals no parking.
there were no cabs coming, so i walked down the street a bit, and shortly my knight in yellow armour came by. not even a block later... in fact, on the other end of the block, he pulled over and asked if i'm in a hurry. well, i guess not (please see above... i had tonnes of time today) so he asks if it's okay if he quickly deposits a cheque. since we were outside a bank of montreal, i knew it wouldn't be quick... but assumed he meant through the bank machine. 7 mins later, i called yvonne... we talked for 4 mins. she said if he's not back in 1/2 hour to call her back. she would save me. i said the car was running and it's an automatic, so she could. :o) finally he came out, and i got home. i was kinda hoping for a discount. instead he almost dropped me off on the wrong street. but he was very nice and in the know about indian singers and actresses. and despite being from bangledesh, he can understand hindi music.

CSI Vancouver
i hope i didn't just waste a good title. i think at this time, i would like to reserve the right to reuse this title in the instance that i am somehow involved in a crime in vancouver.
i got an email from nick stokes today. i guess he *is* real. i haven't read it yet... i'll save that one for a rainy day. i just thought it was so funny. that spam is being sent out with names that rely on people saying, huh, that sounds familiar. it just might work sometime.

*blush*
okay, so clearly i've been doing a tonne of work at my computer today. why else would i be tempted to blog a million times in one day... and about stuff that didn't really happen today. most of it was stuff i had meant to blog about, or should have blogged about before but didn't.
on that note:
yesterday i chilled with jan. *heh heh* we went to a diner that i had never been too. i forgot to order my eggs poached hard (the veggie burger has mushrooms there, so i had to default to delicious breakkie). other than that (they were not 100% runny) things were good. good fries. good company. later, there was dessert. from dairy queen. and mario partying. it was my first time hanging out with just janet. it was a good first.
now that i'm done work for the day, and have found one house to see (it's a townhouse in the burn) i will retire... as in to my bed (once i fold my laundry) and after a shower. i feel gross.

middle-child syndrome
i have admitted it in the past, and i will do so again. cause it came up today... and now that i think about it...the other day at anghold/dalia's.
as a middle child with badly behaved siblings, and the much desired boy being younger than me, and therefore taking away my youngest child standing, i have always wanted more attention than i was able to get from my over-worked mother and absent father. i stood out by being good, getting good grades, and doing what i was told. i remember my mom having to go to see my sisters' teachers because they had to talk about behaviour issues et cetera. i would beg my mom to make appointments with mine too, although it was never requested. at least those days weren't all bad news for her! *laugh* i thought it was about interest. and i didn't want to be forgotten. like the time i scared her when i came out of my bedroom from playing, because she'd forgotten that i was even home.
i still really want attention. i'm greedy for it. and i like that my friends are good about giving it to me. in fact, i rarely have to ask. :o) fee-Ă¼sh.

resident parking only
it's been a wonky day. so i've been listening to old U2.
did some work. bought some bread. had a mashed potato. watched oprah. bought a parking pass. when i looked at my watch at 1.15, i was like: damn, it's so early! i just looked at my watch, and was surprised that it's after 6. oops.
i meant to get the ordered x-rays on my hands, and the corresponding bloodwork today. but i never got around to it. and since that doctor messed around with my hands they've been killing me. quack. he's only the most requested specialist in b.c. but that doesn't really matter. he didn't have to make my hands hurt.
speaking of doctors. i had this weird feeling the bank might mention the doctor thing to me the other day at the bank, so i was like: okay, get your story straight. then! the teller was like, what kind of doctor are you... so i said i wasn't an MD that i just had my PhD in communications. *laugh* i totally pulled it off. :oD heh heh.
oh, and at the bank i saw leather man outside, talking to the security guard. i first spotted leather man a few years ago, when i was going to graphic design school downtown. then i saw him the very next day. but hadn't seen him in a while. so i thought he was a tourist (it's hard to get away with a leather hats, full-length jacket, pants and boots in rainy vancouver). actually, i'm certain his shirt was also leather. anyway. there he was! wearing head-to-toe leather. in kits! i was a little surprised, but kind of happy to see him. still wearing leather. i wouldn't be able to recognise him otherwise. also, why isn't he at work (i always see him in the afternoon) and where does he live? is he allergic to cotton? i should ask.

snip snip
seeing yvonne's cute short hair with fun colours makes me long for the days of old when i had cute short hair in fun colours. since this was in k-town and k-town equals curry, these things could be related. maybe i think that i will find wicked dansak if i cut my hair short and bleach it twice to get it truly white-blonde. hmmm... this is tempting. also, i can ponder this now, to my heart's content because danielle is in disneyland right now. i don't think she'd be interested in me having weird hair for her wedding. heh heh heh!!!

yeah, me too
sitting around yvonne's house, eating cookies, gelati and chips, having great girl talk, it was agreed upon that the best three words to hear are, "yeah, me too". the simplicity, and naturalness and confirmation that you're not alone in what you're thinking or feeling, are magic. it truly is the little things.
as many of you know, this has been quite the time of transition for me, emotionally and mentally. i'm getting used to sharing, and trying to open up. so, continue to bear with me, my uncomfortableness with it and the inevitable guilt that comes with that. i've been told it will pay off in the end. i just hope i don't lose my ante in the gamble.

the king indeed
that was an f'ing awesome concert. b.b.king is so amazing.
afterwards, lauren and i went to the royal to see some of her friends perform. they totally brought me back to uni days. i was thinking a more mature matt barber, and better song writer.
i guess yesterday was a day for song.
now that i've dropped jo and d off at the airport (they're on their way to disneyland) i'm going to go back to bed. should i do work today? probably. will i? probably not. i guess we'll see.

off to b.b.
tonight is b.b.king. ian bailed on me. but lauren picked up the slack. yay! it's very exciting. i've been drinking, so i have to take a taxi down to the orpheum. d and jordy are here...i'm driving them to the airport so they can go to disneyland tomorrow. we went to sophie's for dinner.
today was a pretty rough day. i had a staff meeting bright and early, then i was off to hope. i stopped at my mom and my favourite restaurant for breakkie and to write something for patty's memorial. it turned out all right.
i may be getting better at this. at least i spoke at patty's. it was pretty hard though. cause she was such close friends with my mom. and it brought up a lot of memories.
anyway. maybe bono will be at the concert tonight. that would be wicked.

thank you, r. lovejoy
ji ji! i keep missing you online. so, instead, i will write this public note of thanks. thank you for your continued indulgence to me of all things law & order and CSI. this could also be why i keep missing you. stu dropped them off (to my door, of course) and i've had a numb bum since... well, except for when i've been at work. in any case. thank you thank you thank you.
i want to watch an episode before i go to bed, so here's a quick summary of today:
had a sore throat yesterday, so took nyquil before bed. slept in.
did work. went shopping. bought a bag and a wallet. (i could be doing drugs... things could be worse... and i'm not buying anymore furlas until the new colours come out... or until the sale in june). had lunch, couldn't find silver shoes for d's wedding. explored but didn't buy anything at the new kiel's. still couldn't find silver shoes. went home. watched an episode of CSI while doing more work.
sister and her husband came over. went for dinner.
saw a house in the burn. was the nicest one so far. very big. have to think about it.
talked on the phone. blogged. going to watch more crime. afterall, i wouldn't want to go to sleep NOT being freaked out that someone's going to break in and kill me. sometimes, i truly believe that we are the cause of our own problems.

a dream will come true for you soon
that was my dubble bubble fortune.
i may be getting sick. i will try to nip it in the butt. what i need is some hot tea served to me while i'm snuggled in bed. volunteers needed.
i finally saw the rest of the incredibles tonight. oliver and i rented it and blade 2 (the first being for him to watch with me, the second to watch with greg). it was a long day today. and it started off being super cold and rainy, and because my blinds were closed, i didn't know it was raining until i got downstairs. i hate that. because i don't have an umbrella, i need to decide on appropriate clothing before i get downstairs. so, i'm going to start to try to remember to open the blinds before i go to sleep now.
also, i had a totally bitchy customer today that i wanted to be super mean to. instead, i was too nice. it was actually a little bit funny. i gave myself a pep talk and sucked it up. but i know she was on to me. that's the best. they have nothing to complain about, because you're being very pleasant and very helpful. but if they were being bitchy to you, and they know it... then they know you don't mean it. oh the power struggles of retail.
i'm grumpy now. it's been a long day. and i think that makes me sensitive, so if you contact me, please be nice.

darbar = mybar
with all this talk of darbar (see the parsons-sheldrake and kenji blogs) today's craving for wok-in's #1 with tofu has been replaced with a desire for dansak. the very food that is almost impossible to find in vancouver. in any case, to date, nothing has found a place in my heart in the same way as darbar's dansak, made exclusively for me with vegetables instead of chicken, if i wish.
"A hot sweet-and-sour curry cooked with lentils, cream, fenugreek leaves and fresh lemon juice."
oh darbar. how those words become poetry. i should email them to pressure them to open a restaurant in the couv.
join forces.
thanks for the link kenji. do you think they could express post something in a cooler to me? maybe i could get jeffy and cheryl to do that once they get back to k-town.

work hard, play hard
that's what i did today. :o) now it's time for some dinner and law & order. saweet.
oh, and to finish off the circle of self-inflicted pain, i cut my knee shaving in the shower today. i wasn't even shaving my knee... so i cut across it. shortly after i almost fell. but that is unrelated. so, i hurt my elbos, bruised my arm and cut my knee. done and done.
tomorrow is a renovation day at the store. hopefully (for the sake of the store) i'm not painting, cause i suck so huge at it.

soooo sleepy
yesterday kicked my ass all over the lower mainland. it's true.
from 8.30-5.30 i was at the vancouver gift show. i know it sounds weak and pathetic, but my elbows hurt so badly last night, when it was done. because i carried this heavy bag around for the entire day. except for a quick break for lunch. and then, after i dropped lisa off at her house i was at an intersection with a stop sign for cross traffic and a light to control the main traffic (flashing green, so controlled by pedestrians). so i jumped out to press the pedestrian button and it changed right away. so i was running back to my car and i slammed my shoulder into the door. now my bone is bruised... and swollen.
anyway, i got home, and was not feeling up to my sisters, but i was gonna do it, cause it totally had to get done. i could tell they had been arguing the entire way here. this is never a good thing. anyway, the arguing continued. i had to drive my oldest sister to abbotsford so she could get picked up by her husband.
long long day.
the good news is, i do not have to work at the store today, so i'm going to get some other work related things done this morning, and then try to do some fun stuff for the rest of the afternoon. :o) yahoo!

no apartments for you
i had appointments for three viewings today. one had sold, and the realtor didn't think it was necessary to call us and let us know. the second one was awesome, it only had one bathroom, but the layout was great. it was in nice condition and the strata fees were decent. the apartment faced boundary though, and it was just too loud. the third one was a great size, but the strata fees were a bit much and it needed some serious work. also, it had its own water heater, so i was like, for the amount paid in strata fees here, i don't want to pay for that myself!
i bought speakers for my iPod today. the creature II ones (as recommended by iJames). they are in my bedroom, set up already! they sound okay, and have a subwoofer. for the next month, i will be playing music continuously from my bedroom. let the games begin.
last night danielle, jordy, yvonne and jc came over for some mario partying. good times were had. and food was eaten. the boys didn't have any frozen lemon mousse, so now there's a surplus. please come to my house and eat some. frozen lemon mousse that is. actually... let's stick with the first statement. come to my house and eat some. :o) it needs to be gone soon, because the things that go with it don't last long. like the candied lemon zest and the lemon sauce. it's because the curd has eggs in it.
we also watched road trip and played clue. it was old school fun.
thanks for coming over kids.

goodbye patty
today, as i was headed to hope to say goodbye to one of my mom's best friends, i got a call from my sister. i was too late. she had just died. it was with mixed feelings that i got the call. i am afraid to see dead bodies, i know this now... so i was definitely nervous about making it through the visit. but considering that there is not a time that i can remember not knowing her, i was going to suck it up. i would have felt horrible about my selfishness otherwise. in any case, the decision was out of my hands.
so, to patty, i say goodbye now.
i don't know who was the bad influence to the other, my mom or patty, but between them, there was always bingo or cards or some game going on. and when carol (my mom's very best friend) entered the picture, there was plenty more where that came from! the three of them together-oy! i hope that when i'm 60 i have such good friends to keep me in line and share the dirtiest jokes with! my mom and patty would walk into their events (cribbage, bingo, euchre) like rock stars... hello everyone!!! always causing a disruption, and always with smiles for everyone. after my dad died, patty became more like family, she was a fixture at our house for special events, and she always had a present for each of us under the tree. patty was a dear friend to my mom, and for that kindness alone, she will be remembered and have a special spot in our hearts.
since my mom probably already knows where every bingo hall in the afterlife is located, i'm sure patty'll get the deluxe tour. pick some good cards, ladies. peace be with you.

more flowers for zoe
about half an hour ago i got a phone call from a number i didn't recognise. when they didn't call my house phone after i didn't answer, i called the number.
it was the girl whose wallet i found last week. she wanted to know if i could meet her downstairs at 6.15, because she had something for me. i was like, really, you don't have to give me anything. and we played that game, and i agreed to meet her. she brought me a dozen roses. they are a peach colour. and quite pretty. and appreciated. partly because i LOVE flowers and because she really was lucky that i have a huge guilt complex and wouldn't be able to steal the money from her wallet... and she probably realises that. in any case, i now have roses, tulips and some plant that i don't know the name of... but is super cute with its tiny little baby flowers. it's practically a store in here. and i'm happy. except that i didn't do much to clean my house. other than that, things are kinda looking up. and that means, it's a big day.

frozen lemon mousse to replace sex
it's true. all the girls agree. i feel like i'm really doing well with this recipe. the more i make it, the better i get at it.
it's a very long recipe. with three/four separate recipes to make the one. but so far i've only spent 5 hours on it. and i've been working/blogging in between. that's time well spent.
also, i'm rediscovering some wicked REM that i've put onto my iPod. yay!

flowers for zoe
yesterday, after seeing a house that we deemed too small, angela and i stopped at this place that had $2 tulip bundles. totally wicked. we each bought 3. and i bought a new plant for beside my bed. it has adorable little flowers that are pink and fuschia-ish. the woman was from budapest... and angela and i loved her! she was a total riot. she's taking a flower arranging course, and we want to be in her class. :o) actually, we may sign up for a class together. which would be lots of fun. i commented on how it's weird that i have so much in common with a "40" year old mother of four, who happens to be the mother of a good friend. but that's cool. we sew and cook and house hunt together. and hopefully take a flower arranging course.
last night yvonne and i made a quick run to jeff's shelter to drop off shoes and clothes and toiletries. i totally forgot a bag with soap and cutlery in my car. which pisses me off, cause i thought i was finally done with it. anyway... there will have to be another trip bearing gifts.
oh, and i got a new phone yesterday. it took way longer to set up than i had wanted, and i was getting so annoyed i couldn't even work magic to get free stuff. which is really the entire point of getting a new phone. i did get a decent deal, and i changed my plan to weekends and evenings for free. so after 6, i'll be more than happy to take your call on my cell phone. now i should find a women's shelter to donate my old phone to.
today an apartment came up that isn't exactly what i want. it's one bathroom, and no den. so basically it's two bedrooms with a GOURMET kitchen. i can't resist. i need to look. it's also below the 850 sq.ft. that yesterday (after seeing the place) i decided to stick to. but how can i resist a gourmet kitchen? i can't. and it has a fire place and 2 parking spots. i could probably manage with one bathroom. hopefully i can see it tomorrow.
today will be making frozen lemon mousse (martha style) and housecleaning/organising. i hope i only need 11 lemons, because i seem to have lost one. maybe in my car, maybe not. oy.

i forgot!
i also dropped my cell phone under my bed this morning. i have since found it...just in time! it's ringing. but i also got my arm stuck between the boards. the bone part of my arm, not the flexible chubby part. in fact, that bone part could be called the elbow. i had flashes of being stuck there until ian got here at 4. four hours up to my elbow in bed, sounds okay, but think of the logistics.
hairy week
heh heh. :o)
i'm so excited to get waxed. it's actually kind of weird/sick. i need to moisturise. getting waxed and having skin come off sucks.
i have done no work today. no cleaning. nothing. except email, blog, and buy some stuff for the frozen lemon mousse. i need to find a bag of lemons, because i don't want to pay 7.90 for 10 lemons at safeway. i did decide which school i'm going to apply to and have to get my butt in gear, because deadlines to universities have passed, and college/universitiy ones are coming up. quickly. eek.

spring fling
yvonne is right. today was beautiful. i like this kind of weather. everyone is soooo nice and happy and out of their shells. it was a busy day at work, with lots to do, but it was nice. and towards the end, busy, so i didn't get everything done, and actually worked extra. oy.
i went for indian tonight with a couple of ladies that i know from work. one still works there, one does not. it was nice to see them both. and the food was great. yummy. yummy.
tomorrow i see two houses. one on the drive, one on victoria near 49th. i really need to find something, and i need to fix up a couple things at my house and sell it. my immediate goals include: selling my place, buying a place, getting into a school, and working hard. i may have skipped a few things, but today's blog is kid-friendly. also exciting, and happening tomorrow, greg is coming back from ottawa. otherwise, it's just boring work.

do dark brunettes have more fun?
well, i'll keep you posted. to date, i've only left the house once with my new hair. and that was just to sophie's, so that's no kind of test.
yesterday was busy. i'm learning how to do some of the bookwork at the store. and i did an ad for the vancouver sun's special spring fashion edition. yahoo! it looks pretty good, if i do say so myself... :o) and i do.
danielle very kindly came over after her work and coloured my hair. it took like 45mins to get the dye in, and i will admit, i was getting panicky about it. :o) i just didn't want it to be darker on one side than the other. it looks hot. we'll see if i get hit on in the next week. if i do, it's a success. it's totally darker than my normal hair. so it's surprising everytime i catch a glimpse in the mirror. like this morning, i was like, whoa! that's dark. thank you danielle. you did a great job.
i think part of the appeal of going darker was that i didn't have to spend 4 hours of my day at the salon. but if i went lighter or got highlights again, you can believe i'll be there. lindsay does a way better job that i could ever at home.
after that, we went to sophie's for dinner. and then finished up the last of her invitations, back here.
today, i work. but it's kinda my friday, except for admin stuff i can do at home. and that's wicked-cool.

brown sugar #69
just kidding.
but when yvonne and i were at LD picking up hair dye, she reminded me of that commercial with sarah jessica parker. she said that it boosted sales of that particular colour like mad. today's colouring day. i cancelled my appointment for friday, so now i've got to go darker brown. i wouldn't trust myself, or any of my friends to help me with my highlights, but one all-over colour? beyonce, i think we can handle that. danielle is coming over to help me in my time of need, because ian said it's too stinky for him to help on wednesday, and yvonne has done her duty in helping me pick a colour.
i would post a pic, but 1. my sister didn't bring her usb cord for the digital camera i borrowed from her. 2. i'm having trouble working out posting pics online from my mac. but iJames has done it, so it must be possible... unless he's been tramping around with karen's pc.

ridin' with king
whoo hoo! i'm going to see b.b.king in 13 days! thanks to d who told me about him even being in town. the funny thing is, a few weeks ago, i said to ian that i should look into him coming to vancouver, or to seattle cause it would be such a wicked show. and now... saweetness... i'll be ridin' with the king.
things of note for today: after a week of cultivating my armpit hair, i'm ready to get it waxed. i am a little concerned that it's not quite long enough yet. i may wait until thursday. just so i don't get turned away. there are few things worse than getting turned away from being waxed. cause you're so excited about getting rid of hair that you've been patiently growing and then you're told to go away... that you haven't been patient enough. in fact, thinking about it, i'll just get tonnes of waxing done on thursday... i may not be able to sit down that day, but at least i won't be at work with my jeans sticking to my skin. that totally sucks when they use wax, not sugar. cause, no matter how good your girl is at waxing, there's always a tiny bit left somewhere around your crotch that pulls at your skin as soon as you leave the salon. this could be too much information, but why change the format of this blog now?
also of note, i'm going to buy a new toilet seat, and finally fix mine. after i sign papers for my mortgage. the message today from TD: this is a message for Dr. Ursula Hoeger. blah blah blah. on the phone he asked me how to pronounce my last name. he was confused by hoefer, because there's no F in hoeger. f as in frank. f as in frank. f as in frank. oh wait, that was the ticketmaster guy last night... i had to repeat that like 5 times, and he was still confused. oh kids.
time for toast.

survey says...
i'm thinking of going back to a darker brown hair colour. currently, my hair is medium brown with blonde highlights. i'm taking suggestions. the decision will be made with in the next 24 hours...if i go darker, i'm doing it myself. if i'mm just touch-up the highlights, it's getting done friday. i know that everyone cares immensely about my hair so i thought i should put it to public vote.
hot pink shirt
i have this hot shirt that i bought at mantique. i wear it to special events. and sometimes to work now that we're allowed to wear pink. it's a totally booby-liscious shirt. the first time i wore it, ian was totally staring at my boobs all night, in fact, so were other people. danielle's friend, sarah, said that i have nice boobs, so i was okay with her staring. :o) i wore it tonight to chris hold's birthday party. luckily, rachel's mom repaired it for me before we went to california. the side ribbons were falling off and now the ends won't fray or anything. yahoo! but i think i should limit the wearing, it's a hand-wash only kind of shirt.
i woke up feeling crappy today. so after being awake for an hour i went back to bed. then i got up late (i had wasted 1/2 my day) and went for lunch with yvonne. then we picked up sushi grass, a drying rack for my dishes, and more tampons.
then we went back to my place. did some work. talked about stereotypes. did some work. talked to ang on the phone. did some laundry. and headed to chrishold's for cake.

protein...yummy
yesterday was kinda gross. in 12 hours, i ate the more protein than ever before. i had eggs for breakkie, two potein bars and a soy burger. i think i may have a hang over from it.
yesterday i worked, and did some cleaning. then danielle came over and we picked up vera's cards, and then went to the mall. got some makeup done bought some fun lipstick, eye shadow and my brush cleaner. bought a belt at aldo. and headed home.
then danielle was the human winner at mario party and we started on her wedding invitations. and talked about boys.

don't have mexican twice in one day if you have pms
ugh. last night i was soooo bloated and gross.
my sisters came to do some exchanging of stuff. they didn't take any shoes though. but my one sister loves mexican food, so we went out. the waiter was pretty nice, and we joked around a bit with him. like when my sister said, "i have little hunger" and when he kept dropping stuff off during weird parts of our conversation. when she was getting the bill, said, "the bill and your cell phone number please". i just have this weird feeling that he thought she was asking for me. cause he looked at me. i hope my look was more like, oh god, i don't know what she's thinking. but who knows.
oh, and i found a wallet yesterday. on the street. there was over $100 in it. i managed to track down the owner and she picked it up. she didn't even know she'd lost it. but she was grateful.
anyway, for dinner, i went to port moody (possibly for the first time in my life...but i may have had swim meets there when i was in swim club. hard to say). met up with chris, ang, sara(h), and yvonne. good times were had, despite me barely being able to stay awake, and therefore feeling drunk at dinner.
i came home, did some work, did some bugging on msn, and hit the hay. word.
today is brunch with rachel and rachel and chris (i think). and tomorrow rachel leaves for korea. today is also use ian's vacuum day, so he can pick it up. and meet with danielle to do her wedding invitations. and i have to design a business card today too. eek. i should do some work and stop blogging!

yesterday's blog
a version of the blog i wrote yesterday:
today on my friend’s blog he commented about tricking some friends into thinking he got married to a boy in vegas that he met in san francisco. which of course reminded me of telling my sister that i got married to wade when my mom, rachel and i went to vegas. we told her that we did an elvis drive-thru wedding, and then a drive-thru divorce. just because i wanted to be a divorcĂ©e. and then when i was last in vegas, we said i didn’t have time for the divorce this trip, so i’m still married. whenever i go to san francisco she asks how my husband is doing. it is also somewhat confusing to her when i talk about actions that are not conducive to a happy marriage.
all this to get back to a story that i forgot to tell when i first wrote about my last trip. the following story will be two paragraphs, and involve words like pooh, movement, and buffet. feel free to skip ahead (yes, chris, yvonne, ang and sarah this will be last night’s story) it will be business as usual after.
a couple of summers ago, i went with ian to vegas. we stopped in healdsburg on the way down and convinced wade to meet up with us (neither of these things are unusual). wade flew in a day after we got there. ian and wade love buffets. so, despite my thinking that they are the grossest thing, i did attend two of them with them. normal first rounds with them would involve a plate of meat. they constantly “having movements” and “not feeling well”. my normal reaction was “why did you eat so much? maybe you should eat more vegetables than meat”. basically, i was ignored. this is when i found out that wade needs to shower after he has a pooh. every time. now, i can accept this. everyone has their idiosyncrasies. i’m a fan of poohing in the morning and then having a shower. it seems like a clean start, and a good order to things.
this trip to healdsburg, part of our introduction to wade’s house was, in the shower there’s a green shower puff. don’t use it. (i knew right away where this was going). he mentioned that it had been yellow at one time, but he switched to a dark green. it’s his bum cleaner. fair enough, thanks for the warning (in my head, i’m grossed out). this is when it comes out that he doesn’t wipe first. he just goes into the shower. AND he mentioned that sometimes he poohs, brushes his teeth and then showers (now i have a mental image and that is totally making me sick). the next day, i go to have a shower. well, there’s the green shower puff. i obviously made great effort to not touch it, but had flash images of my slipping (especially since i have no balance) in the shower and grabbing on to it. instead of facing the shower head, i had to look away. i couldn’t even face it. anyway. that’s an example of wade. whom i love dearly, but cannot save.
yesterday, after work, rachel and i went to annapurna, the indian vegetarian restaurant. it was decent. the service was good. ian was supposed to come with, but he got stuck at a staff meeting. he was punished later by having to come with me to look for speakers for my iPod, and tampons. the best part was that he didn’t hear the first two times i said that i need to get tampons (we were in the computer department) so i had to keep getting louder. it was at a normal volume the first time. by the third time i was almost shouting. later i kicked his ass at crib. unfortunately he wouldn’t go for a bet. i think i may have crushed his spirit. muwahhhhh ha ha!
have fun in ottawa greg!

breakin' the law
last night/this morning i dreamt that my mom came back to life. the doctors had made a mistake and she was just in a coma. mind you, in my dream, it was only a couple of days after she died, and she certainly hadn't been cremated yet. we decided to hop in my car and go somewhere where no one would recognise her (she had no need for her wheelchair at this point...she could totally walk, and in this case, hop). we wanted to keep the life insurance money. it was hilarious, there were obsticles for us to get out of town, but we managed to pick up my sisters and get on to the highway, which is when i woke up.
dear muffins
dearest freshly made banana muffins,
i'm sorry i don't have any ziplocs to put you in, and that i had to use doubled up safeway and london drugs bags instead. you can blame television. otherwise i would have been able to reuse those ziplocs that i threw away.
i'm sorry. i love you muffins, please don't hate me.
xo
ursula
p.s. i also apologise to my green camisole top that has lace and ribbon on it. i'm sorry about the hole, i don't know how it got there. i'll look into repairs. i love you green top, please don't hate me. xo ursula

the shoes are coming... the shoes are coming!
so, i kinda feel like shoes are taking over my apartment. this could be because they are.
i have a pile that needs to be taken away. a friend of ang and greg's is supposed to come by to check them out, but come monday, these shoes are out of here. and then i have my new shoes that need to be polaroided and put back in their boxes, so i can keep them dust-free. but i keep forgetting to buy film for my camera.
right now i'm making muffins. i had a tonne of bananas that needed using... like a week ago. but it just means the muffins will be extra sweet.
today i worked, and i still have work to do. i'm exhausted, despite getting lots of bed time. i find that having pms not only affects my rationality in relation to my emotions (i cry all of the time, and take everything personal and have no concept of intention) it also affects my quality of sleep. and makes me BLOATED and in pain. ugh. anyway, sleep, i need more of it, but have lots of work left to do tonight, so i'm blogging.
yesterday, i also worked. and watched a haircut happen. later i babysat. oliver was told he was going to mcdonald's and that he had coupons for it. so he was pretty excited to see me. which was actually pretty cool, because i'd had visions of him seeing me and screaming. we went through drive-thru and he was like: i've been to this mcdonald's before. i replied that i was sure he had been. anyway, then we picked up treats (he's not *my* kid) from 7 eleven and thai food and took the loot to my friend's hotel room. erin and tanya were staying at the century plaza for a spa convention and they had movies on demand, or whatever it's called. so we watched half of the incredibles before it stopped. then we watched some wheel of fortune, and i took oliver home. apparently i was all he could talk about this morning as he was getting ready for school. i RULE!
tomorrow i'm going to work, and then go for indian. maybe i can win another dinner from ian. rachel may be able to come out and play too. it could be the last time i see her before she goes to korea. hopefully she makes tonnes of cash so she can pay off her student loans and then go to south america for a few months.

walk like an egyptian
today was fun. i was up early enough that sean didn't wake me when he called from the airport. we hung out here for a bit, and did some catching up. yay! then we met up with j.r. and boring nicole. we had brunch (sean was desperate for meat, so he had a burger). boring nicole was the same, and j.r. was as intense as ever. sometimes he gives me the heebie jeebies he's so intense.
then we walked around west 4th for a bit, and tried to get sean to buy a shirt that said kitsilano from lululemon. two reasons: one, advertisement. two, to remind him to move here.
after i dropped him off at the airport, i met up with lisa in little india. i bought some bangles. they are super cute. and i'm sure will be very popular at the store. then we talked about what my job will be at the store and stuff like that.
when i got home i talked on the phone for forever. and washed knickers, bras and a shirt (by hand, otherwise it wouldn't be worth commenting on). here's a question: how long is adequate to wash clothes by hand? do you have to soak everthing? how do you make sure knickers are clean? hopefully it's not like plastic bags, or ziplocs... we all know that my oprah info on germs in baggies crushed me. i'm starting to freak about whether my freshly washed items are clean enough! argh! luckily they're new... so it's really the next time i have to worry about. which gives me time to gather info.

hunting season
well, the house hunting as now officially started. yesterday we saw two places after work. neither place was special and the first place had a maintenence fee over $200. the hallways were boiling, so i'm guessing that that's why. anyway, nothing worth talking about from yesterday.
work was busy yesterday. but i got to see a few regulars. which is nice.
today my friend, sean is here (en route to toronto from inda, i think). so i get to visit! yahoo! i'm very very excited. we're going to go for breakkie... maybe at sophie's. then i'll have pancakes.
that means: time to shower!

did i just get back?
i feel like i've been back for forever, for ever ever. yesterday was spent in hope doing estate stuff. i just found out that because i'm the executor of my mom's estate, i'm also the executor of my dad's. this means i have to deal with more of my crazy brother's lawyer's letters. yay. make sure you have a will. even if your current estate is small, you should pick someone to get/distribute it.
anyway, earlier, i had breakkie with yvonne, and since i was full from that, i only had dessert at lunch with danielle and her parents. i also got to see danielle's wedding shoes. very cute shoes danielle. she's decided to start blogging again so i thought i'd include the link as a reminder.
then i came home (traffic was horrible) and had just enough time to chat on the phone for a few mins and watch wheel of fortune before i headed out for jessica's birthday. we went to zin (on robson). it was fun. twizzlers are awesome drinks. some people headed to yuk yuk's afterwards, but i decided home was the place for me.
today i work all day and then have two houses to see right after work. and then i'm going to grab some thai food with d. yay thai!

san fran or bust-2005
the details look like this:
sunday
rachel and ursula leave for san francisco. it's looking like a nice day. we learned two things at the border. 1.don't tell them that one of you does "nothing" for a living. 2.don't have a visa (let alone for both people) from india.
monday
slept in. tried to do some shopping in healdsburg. clearly it's not our kind of shopping. it's pretty "older white lady housewifey". but we did go for lunch at dry creek kitchen. rachel's meal: champagne, mini lobstertail to start. pan seared bass with pinot noir sauce and pinot noir wine. i had champagne, organic greens salad, hand-rolled gnocci with pesto sauce and pinot noir to drink. we shared blackberry-lemon triffle and baked alaska. it was a wicked meal. then we went to santa rosa to shop. we started at the crap mall... but that was good, cause we found wicked hair products for $1 each. then we went to "the big mall" and despite me doing way less shopping than rachel (i could barely move, because i slipped a disc) i bought 9 pairs of underwear, 2 bras, and a scarf. rachel bought 1 pair of underwear. then we went back to healdsburg and had dinner courtesy of aunt pattie. she showed us the receipt for having won $12 000 at the casino. we went back to wade's and crashed.
tuesday
did some wine tasting at rochambo and kendall-jackson and some free chocolate tasting too! oh, and i bought 12 bottles. on our way to san fran as we drove across the golden gate, there was traffic stopped in both directions and EMTs and police etc. we asked at the toll why, and she said, very casually that there was probably a jumper. anyway. first stop: skechers store. this was a big thing for me. 1. i love skechers, 2. lately i haven't been loving shoes. word on the street: shoes are back in!!! when we walked in, the guy was like: oh, did you get a coupon? nope! so he gave wade and me one each, and wade scratched 40% off! oh yeah! i'd like to extend a warm welcome to the 5 pairs of shoes that i purchased. i wish i could be welcoming the cute pink kate spade bag!!! dinner was at langley's in windsor. obviously we had a bottle of bubbley to start... i mean come on... it's wade latest thing. wade's meal: butter lettuce salad, and mushroom ravioli. rachel had butter lettuce salad and i had romaine hearts salad and we shared an eggplant dish with cheese etc. gorgeous. too full for dessert. if you can believe it. we did get a free roasted red pepper and mushroom soup and muffins to take with us. it was the chef's first day there. then we went back to wade's after picking up Chef T'ai (the pastry chef at dry creek) and had more wine and and chocolate before dying for the night.
wednesday
drove back. stopped at the hanes outlet store and rachel bought 2 bras.
phrases to remember from this trip with wade:
well, i am jewish you know
low-rent
i don't eat pork
just wait until i break out into yiddish
i got my sister that bag for christmas, i mean hannukah
i'm all like... and then she's all like...
on the way back, we were sure we were going to get stripped searched... and have to pay a tonne of duty, especially on the booze. instead, it turns out the guy is related to a friend of rachel's from naturopathic school. the same friend whose birthday was two days ago. no strip search, no duty. sa-weet.
all-in-all a great trip. with all this wine (did i mention the 50% off grower's discount we got?) i'm going to have to plan a wine and cheese. yahoo!

if you're going to san francisco...
oh, that reminds me. i should find those flower clips for my hair... hmmm... maybe a little too summery. i should think about it.
in 24 hrs, or slightly more, depending on when we decide to leave, rachel and i will be on our way to california. it's a bit of a spur of the moment kind of thing. we decided a couple of days ago that we would head down. and now we are.
the trip will hopefully involve lots of wine, food, and good times. maybe even a day at the spa... which i will look into shortly. we're going to stay at wade's, but for sure visit with pattie. maybe even go gambling. we're only there 'til wednesday. AND i'm working on thursday, so we really do need to get back at a decent hour. hopefully i'm only working for three hours that day. the rest can be spent resting. in bed.
danielle came over yesterday. we played crib, and i won a massage. which is a really good thing, cause my back is killing me. we talked about boys and she read my tarot cards. we also watched some CBC comedy. totally wicked, cause that funny sean guy was on both shows. i think we both have crushes on him. but d didn't like the shirt he was wearing last night. i did. she decided to leave early (good thing we only had one glass of wine) because i needed to get up early this morning. which i did.
today is working, getting travel insurance, dropping stuff off at the cancer clinic and packing.

since danielle found the dress we liked for me (at her wedding) cheaper at a store in chilliwack, yesterday was measurements and ordering/down payment. this time i got a swatch or the material (eggplant) and can now being the search for sparkly silver shoes. the ladies at the shop are crazy. and the owner/manager *had* to show me these great shoes that they may or may not still have in size 10. they were hideous. mostly plastic, with some silver sparkly stuff. in any case my response: umm, i think with the plastic, it might get a little hot. since i have sensitive skin, i need to avoid this. i also told her i already have some in mind.
i went out for lunch and dinner yesterday. i got pancakes at sophie's... thanks greg. i wanted them so bad! yahoo! and then we went to drexoll. i had no idea that there were so many little figurine things to get for D&D. but that would be because i know nothing about the devil's game.
today i have work to do. that lady had better call me soon! i want to get her logo done by tomorrow, cause it's just draggin way too long.
on that note... no more blogs. just work. until 10.30 at least!

i love the smell of vinyl in the morning
today i got two bits of mail. one in my mail box, and one under my door!
that's right folks, i got "thin mail". but it was wide enough to not fit in my mail box. what was it? da da da... it was a 45 from pearl jam. now i must open it. oooh, are you excited? me too! it's the annual christmas album, and it's a cover of the jackson 5ive's someday at christmas. wick-ed.
also today, i worked at the store. i saw lots of regulars, and charmed my way into the hearts of a few. :o) all in all, a decent day. oh, except for hockey being officially cancelled. that part totally sucked.

huge/iJames
oh! and i found out today that iJames (aka Huge) has a blog. it's got some pics of his wicked pottery. i've added him to my superjob section.
v-day
valentine's day has always been a bit of a weird day for me. i guess so has christmas. not hallowe'en though... i TOTALLY get that one. yesterday was spent with friends, doing friend stuff, and having friend fun. that means, despite not seeing the vagina monologues, which i like to do on v-day, i had a great day.
this v-day, i got flowers from a boy, which was extra nice, cause my mom used to send me flowers so i would have really missed them. oh, and i got a valentine's day card from ireland... created just for me. i'm convinced, with love. i also got to witness james ask yvonne to be his valentine. this was a really special and moving moment, until anghold called him on it, and said that he had already asked her. i believe there was a big scrap about it, until greg jumped in and yelled (yes, greg was yelling all over the place) at them to forget james, and love each other. then yvonne, anghold and i went for pedicures and sent the boys away to do boy things.
pedicures were fun. a very new thing for anghold and yvonne. we all got "nail art". and talked about boys, trips to vegas, and other girly girl stuff. yay! we liked one lady more than the other. she had this wicked tattoo of a lady with an umbrella of hearts, clubs, diamonds and spades. and she was laughing with us. maybe we should have asked to get her number. she could be our new friend.
i dropped yvonne and anghold off after that and then was going to get some sherbert. turns out i was too tired. i went home, was going to have perogies for dinner, but only had three left in the freezer. watched the news, and a special on how chocolate beans are collected by child-slave labour, and went to bed. without watching wheel of fortune OR jeopardy. crazy? yes. tired? yes-er.

settle ment
tonight i had wicked indian at rachel's and (obviously) wicked desserts as well. thanks rachel and angela! whoo hoo!
also this evening, was settlers of catan. there were some new people to the game, so we played as teams. cutting to the chase, the german team (mark and me) won. it may be true that we had an edge... but caleb said his dad spent three or four years in germany, doing his degree. so, despite being chinese, he does have a german connection. in any case, there were no prisoners, only casualties (which brings us to my american side).
i did some work today too.

hurting hands
i just got the bracelet off. now my hand hurts. lucky i drank first. ouch. that's gonna smart.
also exciting, today i won a massage and dinner... best of 3 at crib. saweet. heh heh! maybe the joke's on me. i'm extra full now... first sophie's then janet and yvonne's birthdays. eek.

sooo sleepy
last night i was up late. and today i was up early. so now, i'm sleepy.
i saw hitch last night. it was cute. funny. sweet. it wouldn't be in my top 10 movies, but it was nice. and so is will smith. but boy meets then loses then gets girl is hard to do very well... at least this had funny bits.
this morning was yvonne's birthday brunch. so tasty. some of us ended up playing some trivial pursuit. but weren't really very good at it. it was the genus edition. the old one. eek. we didn't actually finish it, but i had to jet to work on the cake. and it's gonna be saweet. heh heh.
time for sleep.

make-over make-over!
today i worked at the store for a bit. then it was time for make-over make-over! with yvonne. we went to holt's (we got her an appointment with the ever fabulous Tina) and had fun! yvonne looked so hot! *happy birthday yvonne* and she picked up a few items. then Tina was like, are you getting a make-over too? heck ya!!! i got some stuff too. :oD like this really nice "peach glow" blush. so cute on yvonne and me! i adore the little mini bottles of toner and moisturiser. i even got a baby bar of soap (the one i use... otherwise it would be useless). so fun!
we also stopped at old navy, and i bought the cutest pink and green shirt that will match my latest zippy top perfectly. yahoo. i also saw some socks that someone i know will like, so i may pick them up. and a similar pair for me too!
then i baked a cake. the icing has to come tomorrow because i have no more vanilla. ooops. it's better to ice cold anyway. i haven't decided if i'm going to cut it in half and ice in the middle. it might be too intense.
i've found a cute house. well, condo. it's at tugboat landing. i'll go and see it next week probably. i've got to sell my place first. otherwise i can't afford it. :o( it has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and two parking spots. yahoo! although, i totally doubt that parking down there is very hard.
i'm not in a mad rush to move. i hate it. i'm considering movers. but i guess that depends on what i sell my place for.
tonight i'm supposed to go and see hitch with rachel. danielle bailed (to go house hunting). i hope she finds something. she needs out. eek. i'm f'ing tired. i could probably go to bed right now.
i'm still wearing the bracelet.

this may require an emergency trip to rona
yesterday i met up with my sister in the coq. i had to sign some papers for her, and give her some info. we met up at ikea, and instead of waiting in the car for her (she's always late. later than me) i went inside to check on my sheets, and buy some legs for my chair. please recall a few weeks ago, the horrible trip yvonne and i had there. anyway. still no adorable duvet cover, so i got a white one, and a new fitted sheets and pillow cases. anyway. we decided to go for lunch, and my sister told me she's having a jewelry party. i couldn't even pretend excitement. so she said she got me a bracelet just like the one she was wearing. i couldn't get it on my left hand. but i was successful with the right. and it's just the hand part that's tight, and caused bruising, it fits over my writst fine. oh wait, it's also getting it off that's a problem. as in, i can't. so, once it starts to bug me, and make me feel caged, i will have to go to the home depot or rona and get it cut off.
my wash machine is broken. luckily i bought the extended warranty, i called about 15 mins. ago, and the guy will be here within 1/2 hr. that's fast! so i guess if i'm gonna move stuff off the wash machine, now would be the time. at least i'm dressed. unshowered, but dressed.

by the power of greyskull!
whoo hoo! back in bizness.
power's on. and so are plans to make a cake for the joint birthday! just as i went into my room to try to move the fuzzy green chair in there, i automatically turned my light on, and then heard the big click of the building's power coming back. very exciting. i wonder if i can finally put away all of the candles i have in weird places like the bathroom? maybe the power thing has finally been really really fixed. that would be wick-ed.
janet dropped off yarn from rosemary, and got to tour the halls of my building by flashlight. and watch me start to build my new and fabulous green chair (whose legs i just picked up from ikea). i looked for those wicked sheets at the coquitlam ikea and they don't have them either. now i will check the website... without expectation.
anyway, i *do* have actual work to do. so i think i'll get to it.

no power for you!
starting in about 15 mins (i'd better get my car out of the garage) it will be an internet free and powerless day. the power is being shut off in my building until about 5.
maybe i'll sneak internet at the store.
:o)

you need help
today i went to hope. i realised driving there, that i have a lot of anxiety associated with that place. anyway, i went to my doctor, and i had no intention of telling her anything except that i'm having trouble sleeping. but she's so nice, and i'm vulnerable. so i told her the truth. and now i have to see a counsellor. (i think i hear certain people cheering in the background).
anyway. i really missed my mom today. so it was a crappy feeling day. all i can think about is having 5 more minutes, just to make sure she knows how much i love her. because i'm a little bit worried about that. so, as the only advice i can give, i would suggest that you call your parents and tell them that you love them, and make sure they say that they know. just in case. because i told my mom i love her, but she never said that she knew that.

mail obsessed
sometimes i am such a dork!
i have not left the house today, except to do recycling (x 1) and check mail (x 3). stu isn't delivering the mail here right now... i imagine one of two scenerios:
1. he's on vacation
2. they switch things around once in a while so that the carriers don't get bored
so the stupid mail doesn't come at the expected time of 11am. i can't figure out when it gets here yet...but it's late. like in the afternoon or something.
there's a woman that delivers mail that lives in my building. i think i should quiz her about what's going on.

i'ma da besta
yesterday i watched a bit of the football game (which i didn't think was all that exciting) and decided to sleep during the half time show, so that i would be awake for mario party.
i hate peach. she is way to smug. so, for the record, we're going to say that mario won. the computer can't *really* win! yoshi was just adorable. and warluigi, or sour grapes, whatever his strawberry shortcake name is, was just bitter (i've decided it's because he's too skinny... have some cake, sour grapes and relax).
i also got to talk to sarah yesterday. that was fun. i do wish she'd move here. she's trying to convince yvonne and me to go to toronto for a visit, and we're trying to get her to visit us here. it's a battle. but maybe this year i'll visit ontario. it's been a while, afterall.
ugh, i'm still bloated and grumpy, so i think i'm just going to stay home, and keep working today. especially because the power's out at my house on wednesday, so i won't be able to get any work done.

wedding start
today i saw danielle in her wedding dress. it is very simple and pretty. she looked so grown up. i also tried on a dress today. of the bridesmaid variety. it was also very nice. a great colour and very cute with a bow. we will look at some other places, but we have to decide quickly because the dress takes like 3 months to get in. wtf, i know.
we also went to the mall, and i found nothing to buy, so it was a bit of a big day. and we went out for lunch at red robin, without cheesey sticks, so i'm gonna have to say it was an extra big day. i did have an orange shake, cause i was imagining the ones at sophie's. but the one at rr's was gross. so i really don't feel like i had a shake, which is probably a good thing, cause they make me feel kinda sick.
now, we play cards. i hope to win. this is a great opportunity to kill my losing streak.

ooooh chanel
busy day today. did some work, took out the garbage, went shopping with turi, bought chanel body lotion.... oh baby! met up with my sisters, had dinner with lisa, and am going to hang out with rachel after she gets in from hell's kitchen (i opted out). please do not confuse this with the convent that kenji is at, they are totally different places.
turi also gave me a lead on wicked mascara, and a tip about using the body lotions... which in the past i have felt were too concentrated. if you mix it with cheaper moisturiser (don't tell the ladies at chanel this) then it's more subtle and goes further. yahoo!
tomorrow is wedding dress fitting with danielle, and maybe more shopping. i think i've been shopping a lot this past month. more so than ever before even. maybe i'm just testing the truthfulness of shopping therapy. huh. whatever.

lesbian porn, please
yesterday was interesting. i worked with lola, who was trying to make-out with me all day by whispering sweet nothings like, "i want to check out your hard drive". pervy lola.
also interesting was going to little sisters and then to a sex shop on granville with my sister. oh, and her husband. looking for some girl-on-girl dvd action. i've been to a million sex shops. and i've been with friends. but it was weird to go with my sister.
lunch was at sophie's with lola. where we got to make fun of the new drawing by a small child. which is one of our favourite things. dinner was at las margaritas. both delicious.
and then rice krispie square making and crib playing at anghold's.
today was work. and lots of cribbage losses.
it was a bit of a weird day actually. when i woke up, all i could think of was going back to bed. it was gross and dark out. the perfect kind of day to do nothing.

my appointment
*the following contains words such as pap and sex*
yesterday after doing some work, with lola, and lots of emailing, i went to my doctor's appointment at the women's clinic at VGH. vera told me a while ago about getting cheap birth control through planned parenthood. and she's right! $36 for 3 months instead of $80+. but you have to have this initial appointment and talk to a volunteer and then the doctor. luckily i've had a pap within the last year so i didn't have to have one last night and because the video room was already being used, i got to skip that!
anyway. this is what happens when you start a new clinic: you have to lie on your form so you don't seem quite so slutty, and you have to discuss your family history. the family history part was horrible. i cried, because there's a section about breast cancer, and then the volunteer asked me if my dad was still around. i'm never changing doctors again.
now for the lie: the best part is that it wasn't even very good, because i didn't want to lie. i mean, if you're going to lie about something, at least make it good, right? did i lie about my number of previous partners? no. did i lie about birth control methods? no. what did i do? instead of saying that i'd been with my "current partner" for a year, or something equally non-slutty, i decide to stretch the truth to say a month! *lmao* seriously, this is where my dorkiness comes in. of all the places to lie, a women's clinic. i'm gonna guess all of the doctors and volunteers are feminists and wouldn't care between a couple of weeks and a month. i blame the media. bastards.
so immediately afterwards, i went to yvonne's, and confessed. sometimes i feel really catholic. she consoled me and we went to denny's. decaf for her, pancakes for me.

good times
yesterday was fun. yay!
i went shopping with greg. he got the cutest brown sweater from old navy, and a green shirt from lululemon. less exciting, i got some hand and face towels from sears, and soap from clinique. but i did get an orange julius smoothie fix. yahoo!
then i went out for dinner to aqua riva with ian, yvonne, and jan(et). yes, yvonne said no more eating out for her for the week, but it became her birthday dinner from me, so it wasn't *really* eating out. we're starting to celebrate early, just in case there aren't many birthdays in between hers and anghold's. anyway: so fun. ate way too much bread, so i couldn't finish my meal. and felt gauche doing take-away but not enough to not do it, clearly. they have awesome sunburst martinis there, that are nothing like the ones at woodenheads in k-town, which is what provoked me to get one. but that's totally fine, cause these are soooo tasty. whoo hoo.
then came home after we dropped everyone off, and i basically passed out. which could be why my back hurts. i don't think i slept properly.
today's menu involves a lot of work, and hair-straightening. i'm getting quite long hair now. not as long as girl at sophie's. but it's getting there.

sunday in kits
today yvonne and i walked up to west fourth. looked in some windows and stopped at the store quickly. then we ate too much at sophie's. and i decided i did in fact need a new fitted sheet from bed. we went there, and they were closed. before their posted time of 5pm, i would like to add. if we'd have stopped at lululemon it would have been the perfect wet kits sunday.

seven to eleven
this is classic.
so, yvonne and i were going to the seven eleven admist all of our shopping/preparations for ang's party. which, i should mention we forgot at home... more on that later. anyway, i really wanted some 5¢ candy, so as we pulled up to the parking lot, i saw a little sign that said, 7-11, staff parking, only. so i read it out loud: seven to eleven staff parking only. as soon as i said it, yvonne and i laughed our asses off. it was hilarious. i'm willing to accept that it could be more of a verbal story, and not a written story, but i can repeat it for you over the phone if you like.
anyway, earlier we went to tim hortons to get some tim bits, and i was going to work my magic on this guy behind the counter, so that we could get them in a donut box, cause we thought that that would be funnier. but when it got to be our turn, this woman offered to help us, and we both knew it wasn't going to happen.
but i did get a 50% discount at the dollar store.
oh, and i had to return the printer that i bought yesterday because the stupid guy that sold it to me explained that the only difference between the one that i bought and the one that i was considering buying is that the one i ended up buying doesn't print as many borderless photos. he didn't mention that one is mac compatible, and the other isn't. i'm not sure if that counts as a difference to him or not, but it does to me.
anyway, i went back to the store and i got a wicked printer that does cds and dvds and has 6 colours, for the same price. i get a mail-in rebate, and he gave me extra money off, so that it's the same price as the one that i had initially purchased.
last night was good times at anghold's bday party. everyone had great costumes on. it was very fun. office-themed parties offer something for everyone. the water cooler was a nice touch. on the way over we entertained the cab driver with stories of seven to eleven and "why," as he said, "do you guys have so many boxes?" yvonne said he watched my ass as we left the cab.
today i spent some time with my friend, brad at apple care. my computer ( i won't describe how, yvonne) had some issues. he thought we were going to have to clear the hard drive, but we didn't. which is good news. i was planning to back up all of my files today anyway.
things are good in hood now. and i get to look at cute underwear online now. yahoo.

oops, i forgot
sometimes i forget to blog about things.
like yesterday, i forgot to blog about getting stuck in the bathroom at work. there's a note on the door, but i was thinking about it when i closed the door. the worst part is that brooke, the girl i was working with thought i was going on my break. she wouldn't have known that something was up for at least 1/2 hr. eek. so i tried to do some macgyver style stuff (like when i closed the door at guildford, because i forgot to save one key to lock the door behind us). anyway, at w10th, the macgyver shit didn't work. so i was pounding on the door, but because i had closed the divider door, brooke couldn't hear me. luckily an important fax was coming in, so she happened to go to the back room, and facilitated my escape. yahoo!
also, i forgot to blog about the glass tiger concert.
it was really really really fun. vera didn't end up coming, but that ended up being okay. the crowd was really great. it was so fun. allan frew was hilarious, and he looks pretty good for an old guy. and fly for a white guy to boot. it was a total mix of people, but that was awesome.
ian and danielle agreed. it was better than they thought it would be. and that equals quality.

back on the bottle
today (after having lost the battle with my then looming cold) i bought some nyquil. oooh nyquil. welcome home. i plan on being cured tomorrow, so i will only use it tonight. i also bought triple-ply tissues. really, i deserve it. :o)
also today, and more importantly, it is anghold's birthday. we had ethiopian for lunch, gave her hot-pink sheets for her new bed, and had a good time.
my printer is broken, so i can't print these documents that are actually quite important. i tried to change the ink. no difference. i may have over-used it printing mass amounts for people. i thought i was going to pick one up at staples, went there, they didn't have it. so i went home, thinking i'd just order it online. can't. they're out of stock. booo urns. now i have to go to london drugs (i should have just picked one up earlier today, when i was already there). ugh. since when have computers made lives easier? i want proof!

i feel like a brunette
i think it was sunday night, yvonne and i were over at anghold's (very impromptu visit spurred by a desire to play more cards) when i brought up a conversation (argument) ian and i had recently had. i often do this so i can get people on my side and use it as evidence against him. it didn't work this time.
completely indignent, i said that ian called me blonde. it threw me off that greg, yvonne, and anghold were like, well, ursula, you are. seriously, i think i was kind of insulted. and besides, i know people with blonde hair, and it's much lighter than mine. i would call my current hair light brown with blonde highlights. but apparently, the fact that i have a blonde maintaining shampoo and conditioner works against me. at this point, i should mention that i don't like that shampoo and never use it. i prefer the curl enhancing stuff from pantene. and if anyone wants to argue with this brunette about her naturally curly hair, you'd better be ready to scrap.
oh, and i already told some people about this, but i'll repeat, cause it's such an ursula dream:
i finally broke down and got someone in to clean my house (which is totally my dream, cause they'd be a professional and it would be perfect). when she got here, she spoke german under her breath and was cursing me for having such a disgusting house. i tried to explain to her (in german) that i have been really busy and grieving and such lately and she would have none of it! then when she was going to check out the state of my bedroom, i was like: oh! that room? we don't need to clean it today. it's fine. and i quickly closed the door. ugh. so, i brought some laundry with me to hope today and my sister did it for me.
yup. things are getting more normal every day.

getting better
today i only thought about calling my mom 3 times. it's an improvement. her memorial service was yesterday. there were over 200 people there. thanks to everyone that came out to honour her and support me. you're awesome.
sarah flew in from toronto yesterday. it was so great to see her. she has left "my milkshake is better than yours" as her legacy for the trip. yvonne and i want it out of our heads, but we can't shake it. yet.
last night we (danielle, greg, sarah and yvonne) played cards, drank (well, sarah and me, mostly) and then this morning we went to sophie's for breakkie. yay! we also decided at some point yesterday, that i'm going to write a self-help book called "commit to hot". yeah... it's gonna be a best seller. if you think that you're going to steal my idea, let me warn you: i know people.
ugh, totally a disappointing day today. here's a list:
sarah couldn't find a pair of black shows to buy
ikea didn't have the sheets i wanted, the scrubby i wanted, the legs for the chair i bought, the face clothes i wanted, the table yvonne wanted
the pad thai i got from thai away home tasted funny and they ran out of mango sticky rice.
bullshit is what i say. now i must crochet.

i'm back
thanks to everyone for their thoughts and wishes. this has been such a hard time for me, and it totally helps to know that i have such a wicked support system.
memorial service: saturday 2pm, the legion in hope. 344 fort street. highway 1 east, take exit 170. turn left at lights. go straight through next set. turn right onto fort street. it's on the right hand side a few blocks up. if you hit wallace street (the dairy queen) you've gone too far by 1 block, i think.
i am back online. my computer fixed itself.
p.s. kenji, i think i might be able to hook you up with another one of those decks. ;o)

it's not raining... it's pouring
YUK! it is so f'ing wet out! this would normally be fine, but i had to bring in my computer for repair today - after wasting an hour on the phone with a guy at apple. i'm not actually pissed, except that it would have been nice to be able to do some work this week. the guy at the computer store was really nice. turns out, i could have had someone come to my house to fix it, instead of bringing it in. if it's software related, i just have to pick it up, and someone will come over. otherwise, software problems aren't covered by iCare.
clearly, i am not available online, except for while i'm here at kinko's (because both the kits and point grey libraries are closed).

chinese drinking games
good times to be had playing chinese drinking games at the hoolie house. the company was great, and the games were wicked.
we played such favourites as: dice, huxima/buxima wa wa, and 20. apparently there are more where that came from. also made clear by last night: i cheat when i'm drunk. but not at crib, which would be why, despite me not being able to put together a decent hand (and therefore getting skunked by greg) i insisted on counting his points, so he wouldn't miss any. and so ends the winning streak i was on. anghold kicked my ass this morning.
the rest of today has been pretty tame. went to sophie's for lunch. looked around west 4th a bit. came home. fought off a nap. succombed to a nap. chatted on the phone. tame. but nice. extra nice because i don't work tomorrow! and it's snowing!

mall day
yesterday was a mall day. i went to three different malls, with three different people.
mall 1
went to daiso with yvonne, after searching all over richmond for an ihop. we both thought the other person knew where it was. oops. we got some good stuff there. i got a laundry bag for underwear, dish soap, tissues in Ă¼bercute bags, wicker/bamboo placemats for ian, and a gift for someone else, that reads my blog, so i can't say yet. yvonne got more stuff, but i think we both mostly stuck to things we actually needed, not stuff we decided last minute that we needed. supershopping!
mall 2
hung out with greg, had my CRAC at starbucks. made fun of pointy shoes, and the trash books we've been reading. had a search for a crib board and cards. and then kicked some ass. okay, maybe asskicking is an exaggeration (slightly) but it was superfun!
mall 3
finished packing up the store with paul and pam. felt a great sense of relief and liberation. no more surrey! yahoo! superjob!
i'm almost finished tape c of crime shows. some of them have really become intense. and creepy, like the one where the guy goes on a raping rampage. soooo not the show i should have watched when i couldn't get to sleep that night!
tonight is anghold's chinese drinking games night. i need to pack, and make sure i don't forget my pillow!

sail away
i've been thinking about this song a lot lately. i've been craving to hear it badly. and it's funny cause danielle was talking about it being at her wedding the other day. i think it evokes this lovely image of running away... and since that may be a plan of mine, i guess it's appealing. i mean, i know, whatever it's a love song. but right now, for me, it's a journey song too.
i went to the doctor today. i'm going to see a specialist about what i was told (like 9 years ago) was eczema. because i've got arthritis in my hands, my doctor's concerned it may be psorisis. because i'm also a doctor, i think i'll stick with my original diagnosis which starts with an h and ends in roids. :oD anyway, if this not eczema, then i can eat all the cranberries i like. is it appropriate to give your doctor a gift? she's also my mom's doctor, and she's been really sweet. i certainly give other service providers presents.
this evening i went to save-on. i don't think that i'm in love with the metrotown one. it seems like the cheap one, and by cheap, i mean it looks crappy, but the prices don't reflect the presentation. and ian made the crazy offer to be my life planner. i also burnt my tongue on my CRAC (caramel apple cider). it was the barrista's birthday, but i had nothing in my bag to give her as a present. it would have been wicked if i have a bar of soap with me. maybe i should start to carry some with me. that would be so awesome. a ready present, for gifting emergencies. martha would be proud.
i also bought 2 loaves of cobs bread, and a croissant today. YUM!

new knickers
despite being totally bloated, and having to literally keel over from the sweet sweet pain of cramps, vera and i went shopping today. for new knickers, and for a bag for her. yes, we were at work. but we called pam in for an hour so we could combine our breaks. please lord, don't let anyone from work read this.
maybe this is way too much info for people, but they can skip this section. i don't really understand how silk and satin and la senza exist so close together in the mall. they are almost exactly the same store, and are owed by the same company. but each place was really busy today. WEIRD!!! between us, we each found a pair of pink frillies, a pair of white lacey, and i got a blue lacey pair and she got a black pair of non-lacey, but totally dirty.
(i think the guy upstairs is having crazy sex. either with himself or his girlfriend. there is sooooo much boy grunting i can't even explain it!)
today was also the last day of selling at guildford. and i'm sooo happy. this will free up my weekends, and give me soooo much time that would have otherwise been spent commuting. so now there's just the crazy day of moving on tuesday.
we had our end-of-guildford staff dinner tonight. we went to red robin and had some crazy conversations. oh the innocence of youth. i had to explain what snowballing is. which, despite me being very open, what kinda hard. eek.
yesterday i kicked ian's ass at scrabble. so badly that we weren't even finished the game and he was like, why are we still playing? you obviously won. so i called him a quitter. repeatedly. since i am keeping score, i think that deserves to points. cause he quit.

shut it down
what usually happens in vancouver when it snows? the city practically shuts down. this is day 2 of snow. i think there are supposed to be 4 days. the city roads were way better today, and there wasn't much traffic, but it was still a close the town kinda thing.
i worked for an hour and a half today, and then drove to hope. my mom went back to the hospital today. holy crap. the road from surrey to chilliwack was horrible. there were white-outs, and about 30 overturned vehicles on the side of the road. the wind was brutal. i even saw an suv in the middle ditch with a turned over u-haul trailer. it was nuts. but the way home was easy-sleazy. earlier they were just starting to plow. i'm surprised the highway wasn't closed, but happy it wasn't, so i could see my mom.
i finished the first crime tape from the maruis. the generator is up and running at my house, so there's heat and electricity. yahoo! those things equal food, warmth and entertainment. and not doing dishes by candlelight.
two days left at guildford! (if you don't count packing up. if you do... maybe 4 days left). i will be back to cleaning, cooking and designing after that gig is over... i'm so sick of surrey, and the drive. i'll be so happy to get out of there. okay, so that comment doesn't really follow my "try to be positive" attempts, but it's a work in progress. one can't expect instant results!

snow day
(a title totally stolen from kenji)
i said i wanted snow, and i got it. in fact, i had no idea it had snowed yesterday until i got to the lobby. for warmth, all of my curtains are cold (i face north). anyway, as i was leaving my house for a second time (this time the flat way, cause i couldn't make it up the hill by my house) i thought to myself, you'd better find the scraper, cause if the power's out at your house, you're gonna need it tomorrow morning. well, when i got home, i was able to park in my underground, but that's because the door was left open, what with the power being out and all.
at some point in the wee hours the hydro guy got it back up. which is super good cause my house was soooo cold last night it was hard to get to sleep.
so, today is snow day part two. hopefully my computer will be still on when i get home this evening.
p.s. who knew glass tiger could spark such reactions! i remember listening to them in second year on vinyl. maybe i'll look for a copy of thin red line... maybe lee frew can hook me up with an autographed copy. :o)

don't forget me when i'm gone
so, last night i was telling vera and danielle about glass tiger coming to town. danielle was like, i'll go if the tickets are under 20. vera and i were like, uh, they won't be. but i checked last night, and they are! whoo hooo!!! i'm going to see glass tiger. since we talked about it i've had glass tiger songs in my head. which is not exactly a bad thing. :o)
my wish for today? that i didn't have to work and could sit on my ass all day watching crime shows. maybe i should watch a couple of re-runs of theold law & order as a tribute to jerry orbach. oh, and congrats to the junior team (hockey of course) for winning gold, and crushing russia 6-1.

special delivery
guess what i got in the mail today? law & order, and csi tapes! yahoo!!! kenji and shelley totally f'ing rule. how can i sleep knowing that there are like 18 hrs + of crime shows to be watched? well, i'll watch one and go to bed. :oD just one. besides acceptance, i'm learning control. *lmao*
kudos to stu who once again delivered to my door. i will leave him some gingerfish soap. and a note to tell him he rules. seriously. imagine (since kenji didn't tell me he was sending a tape) the guessing and craziness that would have ensued, had one of those stupid notes been left? AND imagine how pissed i would have been because i wouldn't have been able to pick it up until after 1 pm tomorrow, but i work from 1-9.30! man oh man.
strip class is back. there are like 5 weeks left. today we learned about masturbating our legs. i still don't super like our instructor... instead of talking about the flowers at her wedding, we could have been doing more masturbating. instead, almost all (except danielle, thank god, or i might have had to beat her) of the girls in the class were going on and on about prices of weddings, flowers and all this other sheet. barf. i'm just like, less chit chat, more dirty stuff. but you know me. i'm always like that.

cheese please
as i was telling greg tonight, i think that i ate a lot of cheese, crackers, and chips over the holidays (which are not yet over, i know). tonight, i was going to leave jeff's, but then heidi's g/f was cutting up the cheese she brought, so i was all like, i can't leave yet! i love brie! as the holidays continue, so does the cheese.
i saw so many people that i hadn't seen since my birthday. and some, even longer. like LC. i haven't seen that girl in a loooong time. it was super good to catch up a bit. yahoo. oooh, i was told that i'm very charming this evening. i liked that. maybe i should start a charm school. but i did let the giver of said compliment know that i have a very evil side. there's no need to live a lie. :o)
oh, for jeff's party i brought cookies that seemed to impress, and for a gift, i brought jeff plates, that are kinda like the ones we saw at gay bingo in the summer that he was in love with and some soap (gingerfish, my favourite). he said he likes that i always give him soap. i just feel like it sorta rounds off a present nicely.
i also made tentative plans to go cross-country skiing with dalia and jules. word on the street is, it doesn't involve a lift, this means, i won't fly head first into a pile of snow as soon as i get off the chair. this is a good thing.

holier than thou
today i had my car cleaned. i did clean it last week (myself) but that didn't go over so well. i went to a dyi place, and my hands were so numb i could barely pry my fingers off, and really, depite scrubbing, it looked like crap, i think the "semen" dried on it. anyway, i had it cleaned today, and it looks decent. especially since it got vacuumed too. yahoo.
i also saw spanglish today with d. it was good. i liked it.
brown free-range eggs were obtained from a still empty-ish safeway. it was soooo packed in there. i had four items, and it took at least 15 mins to get through the express lane. oh, and the orange i bought yesterday? gross. possibly rotten.
now that i have eggs, i will make martha cookies tomorrow.
i made ian a scarf this evening. i went to the yarn shop on 4th, cause despite liking the selection at urban yarn, i don't really like the people. i'm looking for a good/fun yarn shop in vancity. let me know. the yarn is green and bumpy and has bits of brown and reddishness to it. it looks decent. i had to make him something, i was feeling bad. we've been arguing/being crabby etc. lately. i think i feel better now. it's cause when you're crocheting (probably knitting too, but i wouldn't know) you have a lot of time to think. and analyze. which is what i did. usually i just make things with love, today i made with more.
one of my aunts emailed me today to say that she and her husband are going to come and visit in february. she's my favourite aunt, rhonda. it'll be good to see her. and it'll be nice for my mom to see her.
as for my foot, i can now easily feel the hemorrhoid (or bump, if you will) because i think the swelling's gone down. the pain certainly has, so hopefully this trend will continue and soon the entire bump will be gone.
in case anyone's wondering, the furla (which remains unamed to date) is doing very well fitting in, despite lola's comments that "shabby chic" should not include wearing my star sweater from nepal that has holes in it. danielle will agree with her, since she recently "mentioned" her feelings about the number of holes in my t-shirts and my not wearing a complete set of pyjammas ever, only mismatched stuff. i really do like wearing my old grubby t-shirts. they're comfy. but tomorrow, i will toss/cut up all t-shirts with holes. "all" may or may not include my dave mathews t-shirt that i've had for 10 years (it's so thin, the repairs haven't held out) but will include the shirt that i had to cut the arms off of because the holes got so big that they were basically decorations that attached to the neck.
all this and cookies? hole-d me back.

rationing kitsilano
two things happened today of note.
i went to the grocery store to get some stuff cause i have the next two days off, and want to make cookies before all of the chocolate gets eaten. i don't have any eggs. and apparently neither does the safeway. and they're out of a million vegetables. it was crazy. no lucerne white cheddar. no nacho chips. what i did get: light cream cheese, an orange, yellow cheddar, and some ice cream.
i also went to seigel's to get some bagels. and (i had just gotten out of the shower, and hadn't expected to leave the house) the girl there told me she loved my hair. and that it was so beautiful. what do i say to that? screw "the rules" you don't have to look your best at every moment in order to get picked up. oh wait, maybe you do. but not to get a compliment!

in case i don't come back
that is totally the best line from delicatessen. i have only seen that film once before, and that was many moons ago; we saw it the night before a french final for my roommate, sarah. it *is* french, so it counts. :o)
today was work. and the first day of the new year. (happy new year). which was kinda nice, i guess. it is also jc's birthday, so happy birthday jc! after work, i did some work and watched jeopardy! and then went to jc's birthday pj party. where we watched delicatessen and almost had toast (to be read as, we almost had a moment. afterall, sharing toast isn't a casual kind of thing).
i also got to show off my second new bag in three days. this new bag is pink with red decals applied by lola, and it was my christmas present from her. all done very covertly. i am sooooo happy about it, i especially love the unicorn on the inside. you rule. i have no qualms about carrying it and the furla bag together. i think they were meant to be. especially since pink and green are so adorable together.
last night i went for dinner with gord and vera and had a couple of drinks. was home by 10, and in bed by 11. i was asleep by 1 (after the very nice phone calls, thank you). it was pretty much exactly what i wanted. a quiet, relaxing, non-eventful new year. nevermind the fireworks and singing/cheering going on outside. even that didn't last long.
tomorrow may be my last day of work at guildford. no one knows at this point. but if we close on tuesday, then i will no longer work there. thank god. but i guess there will be the packing up of the store, so there may still be one or two days there. not real working days though.
oh, and re: foot. still hurts, but not as crazy bad as before. so maybe i'm on the mend.
