bribes

i think that if you pay extra for say, faster service, that it's really that you're bribing to get it.

example:
today i went to get my passport renewed. i asked at the commisioner if there was a way to get it done faster. the difference was $30. and it will be ready next week tuesday. perfect. i leave for tahoe on friday. mostly i thought they would keep my birth certificate while i was getting my passport and then i wouldn't be able to get in to the states. but they give it back, so really i didn't need the fast service. BUT i guess if you pay for the express service, you also get to do some line skipping. there was only one person in front of me that i had to wait like 5 minutes for. that alone, was worth the $30. seriously worth it, since the line-up was over an hour for the non-bribing section.
