in case you didn't know - the Olympics are in town.
if someone asked me if i wanted the Olympics here, i would have said no. but since they're here, and i can't do anything about it - i'm embracing it, and trying to go to events, and take advantage of free stuff.
i've compared it (gerry's heard this one before) to someone inviting you to a party that you can't afford to go to, and then somehow, they're having the party at your house, and it's costing you loads of money that should be going to pay for your medication or something essential like that. since the party's at your house, and you're paying for it, you might as well join in.
on that note, gerry and i went to surrey's holland park. we saw the rcmp musical horse ride; we watched canada's first gold medal won in canada, and celebrated as a community. it was good fun, with the exception of councillor gill acting like a total wanabee big shot. p.s. if you are blocking everyone's photos and grabbing your friends, saying crap like: oh, you're my family tonight, people won't like you. including me. and i will be forced to blog about you and how annoying and inconsiderate you are. so yeah, overall, great night, other than councillor gill.
we'll try to head downtown this weekend, and peak into some of those country houses - apparently Irish House (the Irish have 3 athletes here) is where the party's at.
