it's been a busy month. allow me to sum up.
new year's was spent in celbridge with conor, sinead, DP, and the new baby: diarmuid. there was some experimentation with conor's Wii and gerry and i basically fell in love with it.
the next day gerry and i left for germany, where we were meeting ian the next day.
we went to heidelberg for a couple days, then to the netherlands, belgium, france, and back to germany. then we left for ireland.
ian and i spent the day in dublin with elaine, and gerry went to carrick, then we left for cork. sunday was a day of rest. monday gerry went to work, and ian and i walked around cork, and had lunch at wild ways.
tuesday i was sick... repeat for the next week. we still managed to go to blarney, my favourite restaurant: cafe paradiso and to the fransiscan well. i ended up sending ian back to dublin on the bus so that elaine could entertain him, and i'd arranged for him to hang out with isabel in my moment of illness.
then, on wednesday, ian and i left for london. we saw spamalot on wednesday, and on thursday the royal shakespeare company's antony and cleopatra.
spamalot was fun. really great. we were in nosebleeds, but it was fine.
antony and cleopatra starred patrick stewart. and despite not being my fav of the shakespeareans, it was really good. i really love shakespeare, and seeing the RSC hasn't let me down in the past, so i was super-keen to try to see this (we hadn't pre-booked tickets, so we didn't know if we'd get in).
we also went to my favourite museum while in london. the tate modern now has an entire room designed and designated to rothko. he made a series of paintings that were originally intended for the four seasons in LA, but said that they were too dark and pensive for the location, and gave them to the tate. they've designed a room with darker lighting as per his requests, so it's really enclosed and linear. the concept works really well.
friday ian went back to vancouver, and i came back to ireland.
saturday was gerry's work 'winter dinner and dance'. another opportunity to wear the red dress and prada shoes! whoo hoo.
now it's back to work (right into month-end craziness). i'll try to put together some pics of the trip and post them.
