notice

i gave my notice yesterday. i gave the required one month's notice. i don't know that i can hang on that long. that being said: at least danielle didn't make me wear white shoes at her wedding. things could be worse... there would probably be pictures of that.

plan of action job wise? recruitment agencies are big here. i will give my qualifications to one this week and find a job. also, gerry and i planning to go to b.c. soonish. i'm going to look up flights today... you know cause i'm going that anyway.

a hockey tragedy

no, i'm not being too dramatic. it's really quite tragic.

olympic hockey is on... and no, i'm not watching it.

obviously there are loads of reasons, because if it was just one, that would be pathetic.

1. the irish barely know what ice hockey is
2. it's not enough of an interest that the free channels here will show it
3. even if the free channels were showing it, coronation street's on at gerry's
4. the nature programme's on at my house
5. i'm working while canada plays
6. we're in the middle of moving

i'm going to try to watch the game tomorrow... but as i said we are in the midst of moving, so hopefully some miracle will occur today that involves gerry getting completely moved today and me getting to sit on my ass watching/listening to hockey all day tomorrow. day-amn that would be sweet.

in other news, i'm still having headaches and plan to finish the rest of my day stoned on over the counters and am thinking about taking out stock in headache pills... so that it would be like getting an eventual discount on my purchases.

to stress the matter

ummm... looks like i'm as crazy as the rest of my family.

i was totally sick, starting last thursday. severe severe headaches. these crazy weird hot flashes where i would suddenly start sweating like crazy. and then nausea.

so i went to see the doctor. yeah. i paid 50 euro to have some lady tell me it's probably stress. wait. there's more. i got to the office, didn't think i'd need cash on me ONLY or that at least there would be a bank machine nearby. so i ask the receptionist if i need cash. yes. okay, ummm... is there a bank machine downstairs at the phamacy? no. got it. how about nearby? no. ummm. okay. thanks. i leave the office and ask someone else. i walk the 20 mins (boiling hot, fuming mad, and working my way through the obstacle course of dog shit that litters the sidewalks of ireland). get some money, head back, and decide that i hate ireland.

i then see the doctor who asks if i might be pregnant (insert more fear and, imagine... stress). to which i work out logically as a no, cause i've had a few cramps, and i know i'm getting my period this weekend.

anyway... she decides it's stress. thanks. gerry suggested that for free the night before. she prescribes the irish version of advil so i can stop taking the T3s that were making me fully stoned and barely able to move.

at least i got to take a couple more days off. and i came up with a plan, which will hopefully alleviate some of my stress.

the plan includes:

working less (yay!) or finding a new job

not pressuring myself to apply to a full-time course for this fall. if i am still good with things here next fall, i'll take a photography course, and then apply fulltime for 2007 fall.

working really hard to sort out things with my brother and sisters. so that they can take care of themselves.

L is for learning

now that i've got my L and we're moving out to the country, i really have to find a car. i'll find out today if my sister was able to fix the elevator where the car is stored (it's a two level elevator, popular in germany because of limited space). then gerry and i will plan a trip to germany to pick up the car (and hopefully convince my sister's boyfriend to take us shopping in the american PX so i can get some american food, like marshmallows, kraft peanut butter light, honey nut cheerios, etc.) and we're planning to stock up on some cheap french wines... oh! and i guess we'll be going through duty free from france to england, so we can get some stuff there too! whoot! if we can't get the car out, then i'm going to buy a cheap car here. seriously cheap. what do i want to get? a golf. obviously. or a polo. maybe even a nissan micra. what will i get? maybe a fiesta. in fact, whatever. as long as it's cheap and runs.

i'm excited about getting a car. i think gerry is too.

gettin keys

tomorrow we get the keys to the new place. i only know what it looks like from what gerry has said. it's probably a bit lame to admit, but i'm really excited about having internet at home. i could have got it set up at my house, but in the end, i'm glad i didn't because i only stayed there three months.

breaking up with my landlord was really hard. but i tried to be firm. and i had to exaggerate a little bit. :o) he was pretty upset about me moving out, his accent got stronger and i couldn't tell what he saying about getting my deposit back.

i will be happy to not have to stay at gerry's current place on weekends. last night, at 4.30 claire came home shit faced. doors slamming, stuff dropping, she broke a table, at some point dropped the last roll of toilet paper into the toilet and was falling up and down the stairs. the house echoes, so it's all very loud.

and the cleaning roster has completely fallen apart, except that i cleaned the bathroom for hung over gerry last weekend, and he tidied up the living room a bit yesterday.

we're already planning fun parties... well, depending on my crazy work schedule.

but it's great because gerry's said that it's a great layout. and we have a washer and dryer and a fridge and separate freezer. the fridge is european size, but at least only two people have to share it, not four. and he'll be able to set up his work out equipment and we'll have an office area. yay! no more living in his bedroom or mine!

it will take me a couple hours to pack all my stuff and move in. but gerry's project will be a lot bigger. luckily he has kind friends. hopefully, there won't be any injuries 'moving' this time. you know who you are. and by moving i mean, breaking your toe falling back into bed because you were so shit faced after going out for 'a pint' after moving.

got to keep on movin'

good news.

gerry and i have found (well, gerry found it) a place together. this means we will have the hinternet at home! YAY!

oh, and apparently i don't need need, but it's recommended that i think about getting glasses for driving at night. i think i will... since i have mentioned in the past having some trouble seeing at night.

suck it up princess

so this morning i decided a few things.

one of which is that since i adore gerry and would rather be with him here, than without him in canada, i really need to get with it and learn to like things about ireland. what won't help is comparing everything to canada, and treating my time here as not permanent. i mean shouldn't i be enjoying the differences, and i moved here, i didn't visit here.

i more than realise i have certain responsibilities... or things that i view as responsibilities in canada, that i have no control over... so i'm going to try to deal with those things. and i think i'm going to make more of an effort to see more of ireland. it's the only way i'll see if i really like it.

things that will make my time here more permanent that i *do* have some control over and just need to get on my list:

finding a place with gerry
getting my learner permit so i can drive
negotiating what i want out of my job
getting into a programme at UCC

other decisions can come later.
